Hôtel Du Nord

Very last minute booking but we were lucky to get the last room with private parking for our car. Lovely young receptionist/manageress made us very welcome. Small twin bedded room on top floor. Comfortable bed, crisp clean linen, powerful shower. Was perfect for our overnight stay. Great little bar next to fab pizza restaurant. We were very happy.

Lovely small hotel in the centre of Saint Flour. The room was in keeping with the size and style of the hotel. Breakfast was traditional self service continental and more than adequate. Covered secure parking was available at an extra cost although there is ample parking 2 mins walk away in the town square. There is a good selection of local restaurants in town. I would stay again if I was in the area.

The room was clean but not soundproof and you can easily hear other rooms. The location is central which is nice but combined with having thin walls is horrible as it is located on top of the bar and it is extremely loud. With the bar downstairs I could not leave the windows open and with no other ventilation, the room becomes pretty hot in summer. I stayed there for almost two weeks and when asked for a more quiet room the hotel manager without any empathy and even looking at me said he cannot do that. I found the manager rude with no manners in treating guests but the other staff members were nice. The breakfast was good but they could make it more exciting with some simple changes. Wifi is not good and at 11:30 pm no Wifi at all.

Rooms renovated. Clean enough. HARD bed. Cozy location with small plaza outside hotel for drinks and ice cream. NO one speaks other languages. French is a must for ease of communication (or good pantomime skills). 7.50 € breakfast expensive for very little choice. Bread. Butter. Artificial oj. Coffee. 2 sorts of jam. But, for 50€ good enough.
